Cortina Wine Bottle Coaster:
Fluid and elegant, bold and functional, Göran Hongell's Aarne barware collection epitomizes timeless style that transcends the trends of the moment. Aarne barware quickly became the standard for essential barware in the 1950's, and it remains just as essential today. To mark Iittala’s 100th Glassware Anniversary in 1981, Aarne was brought back in production with additional glasses for champagne and whisky. In 1988, Aarne won the American Table Top Award.
Designer Sean O'Hara emphasizes the glowing warmth of acacia wood by accenting this 14-inch-diameter cheese tray with a granite cutting surface and accompanying the tray with a lustrous 9-inch stainless-steel knife. Shaped in a double curve for beauty and utility, the knife fits comfortably in the hand and has a pointed tip for impaling cheese slices so they can be easily transferred to crackers or plates. The tray's swooping rim, inspired by a butterfly, rises to 2.5 inches high.
Acacia, a dense, durable hardwood, features finely patterned grain of varying shades and, being naturally resinous, will not absorb stains or odors. The tray and granite cutting surface can be hand washed with warm soapy water. Forged of durable, rust-resistant 18/10 stainless steel, the knife is dishwasher-safe.
Essential glasses that still serve a variety of your favorite wines. Side by side they express a remarkable sense of balance with the stem and base being of the same size. Sensually pleasing to grasp and handle, Essence makes fine wines even more enjoyable. Designed by Alfredo Häberli 2001.
